COMPETITION SCHEDULE Jan. 23, Homer (5:00 start)
2010 marks the 27th year for the Trumansburg Indoor Color Guard program! After winning last year’s Mid York Championships in the SA2 class, the Sr. Guard was promoted to the SA1 class. This year’s program has been an ironic choice as, true to form, we have had an interesting and yes, humorous start to our season. Our musical selection, Disappearing World has led us to call ourselves the Disappearing Guard. Basically, the story is this: We began our year with a group of 8, and designed the show accordingly. For various reasons, our number was whittled down to 5; spurring the members to choose to become an exhibition program, with the intent of performing primarily at basketball games. Going this route allowed us to eliminate Saturday practices, and subsequently provide our members with the opportunity to pursue other activities. However, the return of a former member, along with a positive performance and great response to the program, led the members to decide they would like to rejoin the competitive venue. We return to our competitive schedule with no expectations other than presenting a consistent and respectable showing. Even with this change to our status, we have maintained our reduced practice schedule, at times losing up to seven hours a week of rehearsal time and requiring the performers to push themselves constantly during the time they do rehearse. It is a year of transition and changes for Trumansburg, and one we are, to a degree, making up as we go along. Staging and equipment writing assistance is by Andrew Hanenberg. The guard program is sponsored, in part, by the Trumansburg Central School District with increasing reliance and support on the Color Guard Boosters, our parent organization.
